Website Analytics

Website Analytics Setup and Interpretation

Analytics tools tell you what is actually happening on your website: where visitors come from, what they read, what they search for before finding you, and where they leave without doing what you hoped they would. That is genuinely useful information, but only if the tools are configured correctly and you know how to read them.

We set up analytics as part of every website project, and we are available to help you make sense of what the data is telling you, in plain language, not dashboards full of metrics you do not know what to do with.

Tools We Configure

Google Analytics 4 (GA4):

GA4 is Google’s current analytics platform. It tracks traffic volume, traffic sources, page-level engagement, user behavior over time, and goal completions such as contact form submissions and phone number clicks. We configure it properly from the start, including event tracking for the actions that matter most to your business.

Google Search Console:

Search Console shows you how your site performs in Google Search specifically: what queries people use to find you, which pages get clicks, how your rankings are trending, and any technical errors Google has encountered crawling your site. This is the tool we use most frequently when working on local SEO.

Microsoft Clarity:

Microsoft Clarity is a free behavior analytics tool that records session replays and generates heatmaps showing where visitors click, scroll, and drop off. It is particularly useful for identifying usability problems: pages where people are clearly confused or not finding what they are looking for.

What You Can Learn

With these three tools in place, you can answer practical questions like: Are people finding my site from local searches? Which pages are actually getting read? Are visitors using the contact form? Does the site perform differently on mobile? What search terms are bringing people to my site, and are those the right people?

Over time, this data informs decisions about content, layout, and marketing priorities, without guessing.

Setup, Training, and Ongoing Review

We install and configure all three tools as part of every new website project. For existing sites that are not yet tracked, we offer a standalone setup service. We walk you through the reports that matter most for your goals and explain what to pay attention to and what to ignore.

For clients who want a regular review of their analytics with plain-language interpretation and recommendations, that is available as part of an ongoing engagement.

Frequently Asked Questions

My site already has Google Analytics. Is there anything else I should do?

Possibly. Many sites have analytics installed but not properly configured: no goal tracking, no filtering of internal traffic, or still running the old Universal Analytics code that Google has deprecated. We can audit your current setup and fill in what is missing.

Do I need all three tools?

GA4 and Search Console are essentially essential for any business site. Clarity is particularly valuable if you are actively working to improve a page’s conversion rate or usability. All three are free, so there is no cost reason to skip any of them.

How often should I review my analytics?

For most small businesses, a monthly review is enough. You are looking for trends, not reacting to daily fluctuations. We can walk you through a 15-minute monthly review process that gives you what you need without becoming a time sink.
