A digital home for a specialized local bookstore

Academic Scholarly Books serves a very specific audience: students, professors, scholars, collectors, and readers looking for serious used books at reasonable prices. The website needed to explain both sides of the business clearly: selling scholarly books and buying large academic collections.

David Martin Design helped create and support a practical web presence that makes the bookstore easier to find, easier to understand, and easier to contact when someone has books to sell.

The Challenge

The bookstore needed a website that could speak to two different audiences at once: people looking for academic used books and people with large book collections or libraries to sell.

The Approach

We focused the site around clear search intent: used academic books, scholarly books, book collections, library purchases, and Bloomington bookstore discovery.

The Result

The finished site gives Academic Scholarly Books a long-term digital foundation for local visibility, collection intake, contact information, and ongoing WordPress support.

Built around the bookstore’s real-world workflow

Academic Scholarly Books is not a generic retail site. A major part of the business is buying significant book collections from professors, scholars, estates, and readers with specialized libraries.

The website helps explain what types of books the store buys, what it does not buy, and how people can start the process online before making contact.

  • Clear positioning for a specialized used bookstore
  • Search-friendly content around academic and scholarly books
  • Dedicated “Sell Your Books” pathway
  • Collection-buying information for large libraries and estates
  • Contact details for the Bloomington storefront
  • Ongoing WordPress and SEO maintenance

Primary Website Goals

Help the right people find the right next step.

  • Readers can learn what the store carries.
  • Sellers can understand what kinds of books are accepted.
  • Large collections can be routed through an online intake form.
  • Search engines can better understand the store’s local relevance.
