I just received a reminder email from Google My Business to double check the business information for David Martin Design LLC. In the email, there are links to edit the information that I’ve already put into the Google My Business local listing in the past but Google is reminding me to update and check my information. When you receive emails that are easy to ignore like this, you should actually do the opposite and take the time to update your listing.
Google’s motivation here is to keep their index fresh with up to date, relevant information for the search engine user. By prompting businesses to update their Google My Business listing, they are making sure that businesses are engaging with their local platform and that users are receiving the information they are looking for.
It’s very important that you review your local information and respond to emails like this from Google. It may take 5-10 minutes to go in and review the email and then click on the email and update your information but that 5-10 minutes will pay off when a potential customer gives you a call because your information is up to date.
Visit the Google My Business center to check your business listing and optimize it to it’s fullest potential. To learn more about the Google My Business platform, please review the articles I have written in the past about this.
My Google My Business listing is now up to date today, is yours?
